The expedition
Set off on a dive cruise in the Maldives, in the far south of the archipelago, where the ocean shows its rawest face.
Heading for Huvadhoo (Suvadiva) atoll, reputed to be the deepest in the country and one of the best channel-diving spots in the Maldives. The dynamic conditions, strong currents and nutrient-rich waters, draw in exceptional pelagic life: on iconic sites such as Viligili, drift dives serve up spectacular scenes, grey reef sharks, eagle rays, schools of barracuda and hunting trevallies.
Between dives, snorkelling over pristine coral reefs and, after dark, a rare experience: watching whale sharks from the boat, drawn in by the plankton concentrated under the lights.
The itinerary continues to Fuvahmulah, a legendary destination known worldwide for shark diving: this isolated island is home to one of the highest densities of tiger sharks in the world, with several hundred individuals identified. Tiger sharks, thresher sharks, oceanic mantas, every dive is a powerful encounter, often unforgettable.

Arrival at Malé airport, domestic flight Malé to Huvadhoo, boarding the yacht.
8 to 11 February
3 dives per day and talks on the wildlife and marine environment of the Maldives.
12 to 13 February
Dives at Fuvahmulah and introduction to tiger-shark photo-identification.
14 February
Domestic flight Fuvahmulah to Malé and return flights to Europe.
15 February
Arrival in France / Europe.

Beyond the diving, the expedition is part of a citizen-science effort: daily talks on the environment and marine life of the Maldives, exchanges with two naturalist guides, and an introduction to the photo-identification of the tiger sharks of Fuvahmulah, where every shot feeds the monitoring of one of the densest populations in the world. A professional videographer documents the adventure. An engaged cruise to discover the ocean differently: understanding species' behaviour, learning to observe without disturbing, and developing a more mindful eye.
